Song of the Month
I CAN SIT RIGHT HERE
Copyright 2008 Mimi Sinclair
Note: This song was composed for a child who would not stay on the toilet during potty-training. A recording was made with several repetitions--as many as needed for the time required on the toilet--and played for her while she sat. Training included caregiver remaining in the bathroom and singing along to engage the child. Eventually caregiver interaction was faded, then caregiver's presence was faded, then recording was faded. The child is now successfully toilet-trained.
The lyrics can be rewritten for any occasion that requires in-seat behavior.
I can sit right here
One, two, three
I can sit right here
Look at me
I can sit right here
All day long
And sing my song
Sitting on the toilet is so dumb
But I will sit here till I'm done
Sitting on the toilet isn't fun
So I will sing my song.
I can sit right here
One, two, three
I can sit right here
Look at me
I can sit right here
All day long
And sing my song
