Song of the Month
Let's Hide the Eggs
copyright 2009 Mimi Sinclair
Just in time for Easter egg hunts, here's a song to accompany the fun! Designed for young children and those with language delays, this song reinforces the use of prepositions to describe the placement of objects. While singing the song, assist the child to place the egg in the designated spot, such as "under the drum." When using the song outside of a music setting, replace the instrument names with pieces of furniture or landmarks, such as "under the sofa" or "beside the tree." Children will love the repetition and easy words of this song. After many repetitions, they will be able to tell you where to hide the eggs! Then turn it around and sing "Let's find the eggs" and enjoy the springtime ritual over and over.
Lyrics:
Let's hide the eggs today,
Let's hide the eggs today,
I know a game to play,
Let's hide the eggs today.
Under the table, behind the guitar,
On the chair and beside the mirror.
Under the drum, inside the bench,
On the shelf and beside the piano.
Let's hide the eggs today,
Let's hide the eggs today,
I know a game to play,
Let's hide the eggs today.
