Song of the Month
ANTONYMS

Research shows that people remember information better when it is set to music. For those just learning about antonyms, synonyms, and homonyms, here's a little song to help keep the concept of antonyms straight. It also includes sets of examples. If a student needs to memorize a specific list, simply insert them into the song. Of course, it is important that the student know the definition of at least one of the words in the pair for this exercise to be successful. Visual aids, such as a puzzle to match the two words while singing/listening to the song, can be very helpful.
Lyrics:
Antonyms are opposites, they don't mean the same.
Antonyms are opposites, they don't mean the same.
Sour, sweet, shallow, deep, they don't mean the same.
Many, few, false, true, they don't mean the same.
Antonyms are opposites, they don't mean the same.
Antonyms are opposites, they don't mean the same.
Fresh, stale, tight, loose, they don't mean the same.
Weak, strong, right, wrong, they don't mean the same.
Antonyms are opposites, they don't mean the same.
Antonyms are opposites, they don't mean the same.
Frown, smile, tame, wild, they don't mean the same.
Antonyms are opposites, they don't mean the same.
Antonyms are opposites, they don't mean the same.
